Israel destroyed a mosque and burned, and stripped-streak on Sunday night, October 2, 2011. Knowing
this, Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu was furious and
ordered the arrest of the perpetrators as soon as possible.
Quoted
from page daily Haaretz, Monday, October 3, 2011, the mosque that was
burned was in-Zangariyee Tuba, an Arab Israeli settlement communities. The mosque was burned from the inside, causing severe damage. Sacred books burned the Koran, as well as the carpet of the mosque.
Perpetrators also graffiti in Hebrew which means "price tag". The Israeli government said in a statement said that Netanyahu was furious when shown photographs of the crime.
"The
Prime Minister was furious after seeing photographs of events and said
the actions were contrary to the values espoused the state of Israel,
such as freedom of religion and freedom of worship," said Israeli
government statement.
"The picture is really horrible and can not be accepted in Israel," the statement said again, citing Netanyahu.
Netanyahu
immediately ordered the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), Yoram Cohen,
on Monday morning to find who is responsible for the incident. Currently, the investigation is still ongoing.
Label Price
Mosque fire action called "price tag" was previously unheard of in the West Bank, Palestine. 'Price
tag' is the practice of Jewish settler attacks against Palestinians in
retaliation for the Israeli government operations against them.
Allegedly, the perpetrators were illegal right-wing settlers whose homes were demolished by the Israeli government. Besides
the mosque, the perpetrators also managed to infiltrate the military
base near the settlement of Beit-El and damaging 13 vehicles. They also write the same graffiti.
Since last month, Israeli police have announced the formation of special forces. The
force is tasked to track and arrest the alleged right-wing extremists
were behind the incidents of burning of mosques in the West Bank.
