Iran Build Nuclear Installations Underground

The Iranian government's nuclear enrichment centrifuge move them to a new facility located in underground bunkers. This step is done to avoid the risk of air attack carried out by Iran's enemies.

This was conveyed by Vice President and head of Iran's nuclear program, Fereidoun Abbasi, quoted by news agency Press TV, Monday, August 23, 2011. He said that now scientists have started to move the centrifuge from Natanz nuclear facility to a new nuclear facility, Fordo.
"The transfer of the Natanz centrifuge to Fordo being conducted with full supervision and in accordance with the standards," said Abbasi.

Abbasi said the country's nuclear facilities Fordo almost completed. Some of the centrifuge which is used to deliver fuel to the add-uranium reactor is reported to have sent to this facility.
Add Fordo nuclear facilities are located underground in the mountainous province of Qom. This installation is the second largest after Natanz. Abbasi said the installation Fordo built to improve the process of enriching uranium to 20 percent. However, production will still be conducted at Natanz until installation Fordo really ready.
"The experts we are working hard to prepare Fordo facility, located inside the mountain to protect it from attack," said Abbasi.
Iran's move is no doubt arouse suspicion from countries opponents of their nuclear program. Monday, Interior Ministry spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said that there is no obvious reason why Iran needs to increase its uranium enrichment to 20 percent.
"Iran has also failed to meet its obligation to stop enriching uranium to 3.5 percent. As many as 20 percent of the additional uranium again clearly increased the suspicions of the international community would be the intention behind this project," Nuland said.
Iran's nuclear program has been criticized by some Western countries, including the United States. They said Iran has the potential to make nuclear weapons with the installation. However, the government of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has denied this and said they were for nuclear power plants and medical purposes.
