The
German government recently held a successful exhibition of paintings by
masters Indonesia, Raden Saleh, in the city of Dresden. The number of visitors at the exhibition shows that the German people admire the painter born in Semarang.
It is delivered by the Head of the Goethe Institute, Franz-Xavier Augustin, in Jakarta, Thursday, September 22, 2011. He
said that the German government Raden Saleh's paintings hang 15 in an
exhibition in Dresden from May 22 to 11 September 2011. This exhibition, he said, is always crowded visitors.
"The
Germans know as a painter Raden Saleh Javanese aristocrat, because he
often painted portraits of aristocratic families in Java. His name is
known at all in Germany, especially in the area of Saxony, for he had
ever lived there and produce great works having previously studied at
the Netherlands, "said Augustin.
Augustin said, there are no specific criteria in selecting paintings displayed at the exhibition. "In
Germany though, Raden Saleh is a great figure. Painting what we have
and match to commemorate the Raden Saleh, that's what we show in the
exhibition," said Augustin.
Back on Display
Raden Saleh Sjarif Boestaman is well-known painter from Java in the 18th century. He was studying in the Netherlands while honing extraordinary painting talent. After that, he had moved to Germany and France before finally returning to his homeland.
Raden
Saleh's paintings will be exhibited again in order JERIN opening, a
series of events co-operation of Germany and Indonesia, on 2 and 3
October in Jakarta. Augustin hopes the exhibition in Jakarta this can be an inspiration for young people to produce works of art.
"I
hope JERIN open up new opportunities for youth involvement in the
cultural life of art inspired by Indonesia, Germany, and
internationally. JERIN open to everyone and the spirit must remain
alive, even after closing the exhibition Raden Saleh," said Augustin.
