Peru Corruption Fight Fire 30 General of Police

Serious steps taken by the President of Peru, Ollanta Humala, to fight corruption in his country. Unmitigated, Ollanta fired 30 of 55 police generals.

Before the dismissal of this action, the police Peru has 55 generals, 900 colonels, and more than 2,000 commander. General who 'forced retirement' was among the national police chief. This dismissal is the largest in the history of Peru police.



However, this dismissal step sharp criticism for President Humala. Most of the suspicious Humala deliberately put people loyal to the top positions.

Head of the new Peruvian National Police, Raul Salazar, said the need to eradicate corruption as much as six times in his inaugural address. "We must dismantle the corruption that tarnished the name of the police. From the smallest to the most important thing, just the same if it were stolen only one sol [in Peru] or more," said Salazar, as reported by CNN page.

In addition, when interviewed by local media, Salazar also prioritize the war against the circulation of illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, according to Minister of Home Affairs of Peru, Oscar Valdes, early retirement is a step reorganization of the police institution which was considered too fat. "It has been previously studied, to restructure the police institution. It is impossible to police a lot of generals," said Valdes.
