PM Abhisit Yingluck and Compact Overcome Flood

Thailand's new prime minister, Yingluck Shinawatra, and the opposition leader Abhisit Vejjajiva has often clashed in the political arena. However, the two men aside their feud together to find a way out of the flood disaster, which struck Thailand in recent months.
According to the daily The Nation, Abhisit and Yingluck and relevant officials on Tuesday to exchange ideas about tackling floods that have ravaged parts of northern Thailand and is now threatening the capital Bangkok and surrounding areas. They met in the National Flood Mitigation Center, located at Don Mueang Airport.
Abhisit suggested to the government for evacuation and emergency assistance for a moment held in a number of shelters. Thailand's former prime minister also proposed to PM Yingluck to use the cargo area at Don Mueang airport as a new shelter for the displaced flood victims.
In addition to expressing a number of ideas, with Abhisit's Democrat Party he leads is also distributing emergency aid and financial assistance to the flood victims. They also assist the government in delivering assistance from time to time.
Ideas and help from the opposition was welcomed by the government. Even with the status Yingluck brother of former prime minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, welcomed the cooperation between government and opposition facing floods. In fact, Abhisit Yingluck just defeated in general elections a few months ago so eliminated from the post of prime minister.
"This is a very good signal for the nation. When we face a crisis, all parties put aside all political differences and work together to help the country," Thaksin said in an interview with the daily Thailand from Dubai, as quoted by Bernama news agency.
Since July, flooding has killed more than 260 people. About 40 percent of Thailand under water.
